Baby Koala Picture!!!!!

Yep, the baby koalas are now big enough at this time of the year to see them out and about with their mommy. This mommy/baby pair was only around 15 to 20 feet up a gum tree so, needless to say, I got some awesomely great pics of them.

Would you like to see one of them? Of course you would. I'll put the flickr one up first at 640 by 480. You can click on it to be able to see the 1600 by 1200 picture. The other one will be the blogger picture embed and you can click on it too to bring up the full size 1600 by 1200 picture.

And here's the same pic via blogger's picture engine:

I stepped outside the other day and found some aussie wasps busy starting a nest.

Needless to say, my next stop was to Bunnings to get some wasps nest killer. Sorry guys, but building your nest right next to my grill is THE WRONG THING TO DO!

Hey, look! A thistle flower!

You can also view this at 1200 by 1600 if you so desire, no worries.

Have you ever been out camping in the middle of nowhere? Perhaps on a small, rocky ridge overlooking a foggy valley as the moon rises over the mountains in the distance? Well if you have then I'm sure you know to keep a VERY close eye on that fog cus you just never know what is gonna come sneaking up the slope to your campsite to feast on your brains!

Here's what I mean:

At full size it's 1514 by 855 so just click on the flickr pic to bring it up.

Or you could just embiggen this one:

Have fun camping, campers!

Almond Trees are BLOOMING!

And that means that our frigidly cold winter HAS to be coming to an end soon. I mean, DANG, but I am so tired of wearing pants.

Sigh.

Naturally when I saw the almond tree that's next to the pool blooming today, I just had to get the camera. The reason I grabbed the camera was to take some pictures for you. Of the almond blossoms, of course.

Here you are, and you're quite welcome.

I Am Still Here...

... and you are not! HAHAHHAHAHAHAH

I joke, of course.

I think I'll survive July this year, especially since Cadel's got a broken elbow. The Pyrenees are looming... Caffeine is my bestest friend right now.

Got some pics and some kapshuns for you, hope you enjoy them.

Have I mentioned how much I really really really like sushi? If not, then I have now.

Those are my mushrooms, BTW. All the other veggies are local.

I think everyone ought to have these:

My BIL is a very good modeller. He has several articles published about kit conversions, scratch builds, casting his own parts, airbrushing, etc. He also works parttime up at the Flinders Uni paleo lab painting and airbrushes fossil castings. He's pretty darned good. Here's a pic of piece of a cockpit for some model that HE HAND PAINTED!

Yeah, I'm impressed too.

Hey, you'd be looking pissed off too if you had this branch stuck somewhere!

Naturally, a predicament like that tends to attract a crowd and everyone offers their advice for extrication.

I have a new toy!!!!! Guess what it is!
what is it

Why, of course it is a...

You just plug it into a USB port, press the switch on the back, hold it in your hand and it massages away all the aches from typing and mousing all day!

It's also very good if your neck it tight or stiff. Have you ever had a little knot in your upper back around the scapula? Works for that too!

Random Australia Pictures

I'm working on some new 3d stuff to continue my completely, 100% true story of my alien abduction whilst I was a zombie with a lightning charged sledgehammer. So don't worry, you'll get to see how it all ends!

In the meantime...

Do you think I need new cycling gloves?

Dunno what it is but it comes up from a bulb 1 or 2 times a year. The stalk the flowers are on was 6 feet tall this latest bloom.

These are the flowers on one of the types of vines covering the back fence and around the pool. I step on them when I need to get to the pool filter. They flower yearround and there are a gazillion of them.

Alien Aerial Armada Attempts Atomic Airborne Assault Against Adelaide Arboretum

1st Dec, 2008 by The AAA (Authentic Amateur Antipodean) News Service a subsidiary of the Weekly World News

South Australian plantologists awoke this morning to a scene of utter horror. During the night alien UFO's beheaded an entire population at a local arboretum. Some witnesses described the aliens as "two-headed Elvis clones." This reporter is skeptical of those accounts as we all know the alien Elvis clones have 3 heads.

The following photos show the gruesomeness of the killing spree. Please ask your small children to leave the room. These pictures were taken before a forensic team arrived and were photographed as they were found.

The severed heads were eventually found on what appears to be some type of sacrificial table.

"Well, we are obviously dealing with some sort of demonic creature capable of cold-blooded acts of malice." According to Bill McAllister.

Speaking anonymously and off the record, Bill McAllister said, "Gosh, I didn't even know that Sarah knew there was anything south of the equator. Is that where all the dinosaurs went after the flood?"

Local detective Tom Baker has some astute observations, "If you'll notice that the severed heads were not only brought up to their sacrificial table, which of course indicates great claw strength, you'll also note the interesting pattern of gouges in the heads; presumably from some kind of gigantic beak."

AAA has just found a local amateur (very amateur) photographer who happened to get a few fuzzy pictures of the aliens. He prefers to remain anonymous as he claims to have been abducted by feathered aliens many times and subjected to various sexual experiments.

The local crackpot continued blabbering on about an alien invasion while cleaning his pool, but here's the blurry photos he claims to have taken during the latest alien incursion.

This news of alien invaders has all the locals in complete pandemonium:

A Rootin' An A Tootin'

So just what the heck does that title mean? It means I'll be getting back to my roots. Yes, I shall go bury myself in the ground and we'll see what sprouts! No, actually it means I'm "officially" off the Sarah Palin Red Hot Naked Pics.

Nope, never again will I make mention of Sarah Palin showing her armpits, or Sarah Palin kissing Tina Fey, or any reference to a Sarah Palin college kegger that may or may not have taken place. Nope, not me! Why? Because it's just too darned EASY!

I'll be going back to posting really cool pics from Oz, and really cool bird pics from Oz. Heck, you'll even get some pool talk and some pool pics! Gosh, ain't y'all happy now? There's even talk of a possibility of a return to Story Time With Unkie Dave (of course that'll have to wait till I make up some crap --oops, I mean remember stories from my youth in Alaska).

In the meantime, here's a couple of pics of some spring flowers down here, and then there'll be a rainbow lorikeet pic (with bonus humor).

Yup, the flowering vines are flowering. Please note the almond tree in the background.

The thing I like about hydrangeas is that the flowers last for 2 or 3 months!

And just as an update for y'all waaaaaaay up north, I'd just like to say it was a frigid 68 F this morning in the shade which was colder than the pool! Fortunately, it's already way warmer than that now in the shade and about 110 F in the sun. Spring might finally be here! Time to clean the pool out from all the duck detritus so I can lounge around in it (the pool, not the duck detritus) this afternoon when it warms up.

Ahhhhhhhh....

More About...

... the Tour will be coming soon to this blog. I'll basically explain why Marc Sergeant lost the Tour this year. Who? I'll explain soon. For today though, I've got a few pics for you.

This first one is for Ish, that cranky bloke in Kodiak. I'll bet he'll believe me if I say I was checking the brisket for tenderness...

Next is proof that cool looking bird pics don't always turn out to be "great" photos.
