Happy, contented sigh...
KE-RASH! BOOM! BANG!
Suddenly the sound of chainsaws rip through the birdsong! The smell of burnt petrol and diesel fumes permeate the trees.
Needless to say, the birds disappear.
Why?
Cus at 730 AM this Monday morning, this monstrosity and it's obligatory noise and crew showed up behind the house:
Must.
Flee.
To.
The.
Hills!

Pray tell, what is the backhoe doing in your backyard?
ScienceBloke(z(2^8)+z(2^5))/z: It was actually just behind our fence. The units behind us are South Oz Housing Trust units for retirees. Apparently there musta been a problem with the drains. They had to dig up the concrete and then dig a trench to replace some pipes. And install what looks like a new cleanout. Tree roots are usually the culprit. The backhoe was actually a cute, tiny little piece of "heavy" equipment. Nothing like the CAT 777's dumptrucks up at Fort Knox Mine west of Pedro Dome.
