140

Heat update, for those of y'all who's jus' might or mightnotta be int'rest'd...

I happen to have one of those digital temperature doo-hickeys (along with other hickeys!). We normally keep it inside, upstairs. Yesterday, it read 36.1 C which happens to be around 97 F. Yes, the a/c was on... did I mention that was the temp INSIDE?

I just now have put that sucker outside, in the sun, on the table, next to the pool (did I mention I have a pool????). The BOM (Bureau Of Meteorology) says the official temp in the shade hit 40 C (105 F) today. I think I'll find out what the temp in the SUN is... Besides, why should we trust some folks who study meteors to tell us about the weather???

I'll be right back, hang on.

I'm back! Did you miss me???

I've just had a squizz (that's aussie for having a look at something) at my digital temp gauge thingy...

Do you want to know what was displayed on the digital LCD face of if? Well, of course you do! Otherwise you wouldn't be reading this.

59.9 C     that happens to be 140 F

Yes, the temp on the table which is in the sun and is next to the pool is One Hundred Forty Degrees Fahrenheit! That's 140 F.

It's bloody hot out!

If Jill or Geoff or Jillian or Brittany or Ishmael or Dierdre are reading this: LET'S BLOODY-WELL TRADE!!!!!!

Listen buddy, it's cold with about 100 feet of snow outside of my house! Stop teasing me! ha ha! :)

I wouldn't trade minus 20 for 140 for the world. There's a reason I had to move away from Utah.

This reconfirms my feeling that everything happens for a reason. Thank god we are not there for this! No pool...and no A/C

Jen: My wife's name is Jen and she also learned on a pentax 1000... Cue the music from Twilight Zone!

Geoff: Firstly, congrats on a great season and I KNOW you'll get to McGrath next year, no worries. When it gets this hot I have fond recollections of laying in the snow beside a trail at midnight at 40 below watching the aurora... sigh... It'd be bliss right now!

Suzer: We're having a pool party and sausage sizzle this coming saturday. You and hubby are invited if you're in the area (although I think you're still in NZ???)

Aw man, that would have been great. Thanks for the invite but unless something miraculous happens (like we get the visa lettter in the mail today), I won't be able to make it. Next time for sure!

thanks dave. to clarify though, that last comment of mine was actually by jill (she often forgets to switch to her account when she uses my computer). I in fact would love to feel some warm sun right now... ok, maybe not 140 but 100 or even 105 would be ok with me.

jeez... I think if I walked outside right now and it was 140 degrees I would pass out. Not to say that I wouldn't like a little warmth for a change... and the chance to glimpse a little snow-free earth...
