Hey, I passed over 3000 hits and I didn't even notice it. I must be slipping in my old age.
I have had requests for a few recipes and some stories from a couple of folk, so I PROMISE those'll be up next --including almost dying in the creek as a wee lad.
It was going to be today, buuuuuut warmth happened.
Air temp: 31 C in the shade (88 F shade temp).
In the sun: A helluva lot warmer.
Pool water temp in the morning: 21 C (70 F).
Pool water temp by lunchtime: 27 C (81 F).
Can you all guess where my day went?

I'm scared---88 degrees and it's only October...and we have no A/C:(
Why? Why are you doing this to us? Just kidding. I like the cold, it's a good excuse not to brush your hair...just hide it under a toque...(that's Canadian for hat). It has been years since I've been swimming. I tried a couple summers ago in Olnes Pond up off the Elliot, but I wasn't desperate enough to get hypothermia...or Cholera...
Suzer: yeah, it's gonna be an ugly one. Why don't you two get one of those small portable units? The cheapest ones are basically a fan blowing over a frozen ice block. At least one room would be cool.
akbushbaby: G'day, mate! Even when I was in Squarebanks I always wondered how toque was spelled. I thought it was something like took or tuuk. Now that I see the spelling I'm guessing it's of French origin? Only once did I swim in a lake in Fairbanks; it was behind the U and I was on my mtb late at night. Bloody freezing!
